Having followed your blog postings since last year, I do know that 'the girl wants to be a surgeon'.
I was also struck by your first account of the dramatic case of the man with the stab-wound to his heart and how profoundly it affected you.

I feel sad that despite all you do for others and the effort you put into all things in life, your own poor heart is up for sale and that you even contemplate having it 'cut out of your chest'!

You must have been wounded deeply.

I wish I could offer instant relief and healing, but as you know from dealing with 'stab hearts' and the like, true healing takes specialised skills and intensive care, guts and time.
Please do not give up on your heart. You probably had to go through the trauma you did, to save you from worse long-term pathology and issues less easy to recover from. You may look back and thank God for allowing you to experience this heart ache. You deserve the very best. Respect who you are and cherish your uniqueness. Do not reserve your wonderful attitude of care and expertise just for your patients, but have a kind, caring and nurturing attitude towards yourself as well.

Judging from the insightful thinking you display in your blog posts, I am convinced that you are uniquely qualified to care for your heart very well!

Good luck! Let us in on your progress! And many more powerful, poignant and inspired posts, please.

  2. Dear kind anonymous follower

Thank you for your caring words. They are appreciated.

Everyone feels a little heart ache at some stage. Don't worry though, I'm fine. Just endulging in a little dramatics.

  3. Quite so, dr Guinevere, I understand. One should allow yourself to experience the dynamics of this process healthily.

Indulging in a bit of dramatics is a lovely thing!
